Following user backlash, WeTransfer has clarified its stance on using uploaded files for AI training. A recent terms of service update initially granted WeTransfer the right to “reproduce, distribute, modify” user files and leverage AI for content moderation. This sparked concerns about the company potentially using uploaded content to train AI models.
In response to the criticism, WeTransfer has explicitly stated that it will not use user files for AI model training purposes. Furthermore, the company has revised its terms of service, removing the language that alluded to machine learning applications within the platform. This revision aims to reassure users and reaffirm WeTransfer’s commitment to protecting user data and privacy. The company hopes this action will address concerns and maintain user trust.
