Microsoft’s Azure Core Upstream team this week released Wassette, a Rust-powered runtime that could fundamentally change how AI agents acquire and execute new capabilities.
Built on the battle-tested, Rust-based Wasmtime WebAssembly (Wasm) runtime and leveraging the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Wassette enables AI agents to autonomously download, vet and securely execute tools while maintaining browser-grade security isolation.
