Washington Lottery Reveals 2024’s Luckiest Retailers Ahead of $1.4 Billion Powerball Jackpot

The Washington Lottery has just released its annual list of the “luckiest retailers” across the state, highlighting the stores where players have struck it big in recent years. The announcement comes as excitement builds for a massive $1.4 billion Powerball jackpot, set to be drawn Wednesday night. The prize is one of the largest in U.S. lottery history, and Washingtonians are eager to see if one of their local stores could sell the next winning ticket.

South Puget Sound Leads With Big Wins

Retailers in South Puget Sound have proven especially lucky for lottery hopefuls. Fred Meyer on Auburn Way North in Auburn topped the list, selling 20 winning tickets worth $1,000 or more in 2024. This same location famously sold the $754.6 million winning Powerball ticket in 2023, making it one of Washington’s most iconic lottery destinations.

Close behind was the Fred Meyer in Renton Center Way SW, with 19 wins in 2024, followed by the Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, which also saw 16 winning tickets. Longtime favorites like Safeway in Puyallup and Burien’s Fred Meyer also continued to rack up significant wins, further cementing the South Puget Sound as a hotspot for Washington Lottery luck.

North Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula Winners

In the North Puget Sound region, Everett and Lynnwood dominated the list of lucky locations. The Safeway on Evergreen Way in Everett stood out with 13 wins, maintaining its place on the list for the fifth year in a row. Other consistent winners included WinCo Foods in Edmonds and Fred Meyer in Bothell and Lynnwood.

Meanwhile, the Olympic Peninsula region featured strong showings from Safeway stores in Silverdale and Olympia. Ocean Shores IGA also made the cut, selling six tickets worth $1,000 or more, making it a surprising addition for coastal lottery fans.

Eastern and Central Washington Retailers

Eastern Washington saw a shakeup this year, with Spokane Valley’s Super Store selling 14 winning tickets, topping the region. Yoke’s Fresh Market locations in Mead and Cheney also delivered multiple winners, proving grocery stores remain some of the most reliable stops for Washington Lottery players.

In Central Washington, Yakima’s Wray’s Meadowbrook continued its winning streak, posting 10 wins for the fifth straight year. Valley View Market in Toppenish also performed well, while Fred Meyer and Safeway stores across Yakima and Wenatchee rounded out the list.

Southwest and Tri-Cities Keep Momentum

In Southwest Washington, Vancouver stores stood tall once again. The Fred Meyer on SE Mill Plain Boulevard had nine winning tickets, while several other WinCo and Safeway locations in Vancouver delivered at least seven wins.

In the Tri-Cities region, Albertsons in Kennewick proved particularly lucky, with seven winning tickets. Smaller stores like Lucky Food Mart and Ron’s Food Mart also managed to place on the list, showing that even neighborhood retailers can deliver big wins for Washington Lottery players.

Jackpot Fever and Community Excitement

With billions of dollars in potential winnings at stake, Washingtonians are flocking to these luckiest retailers in hopes of becoming the state’s next millionaire. While luck ultimately drives the outcome, many players find comfort in shopping at these proven hot spots, believing lightning just might strike twice.

The Washington Lottery plays a vital role in funding education and community programs across the state. In 2024 alone, hundreds of millions were contributed to schools, scholarships, and early childhood education initiatives, reminding players that even if they don’t hit the jackpot, their ticket purchases still support meaningful causes.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
