In the midst of an Indian government ban on open source software VLC Media Player, the multimedia player and its parent company VideoLan have reportedly stated that they have not received any information from the Indian government regarding the reasons for the ban.
VLC Media Player and VideoLan attempted to contact the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to learn the reason for the ban but were unsuccessful. According to Felix Paul Kühne, a board member of VideoLan, the ban on the app and website in India was first noticed on February 13 this year, following a 10%-15% drop in website impressions. However, according to Kühne, it never received any communication from Indian authorities regarding the ban.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it.
