Britain’s antitrust regulator, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), will review Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI to determine if it has resulted in a ‘merger situation’ and an acquisition of control. The recent firing of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has caused turmoil at the company, with Microsoft offering him a role and inviting others to join a new AI research team.
