Udita Bansal, Founder, trueBrowns

In 2019, Udita Bansal conceptualized trueBrowns, a homegrown urban ethnic lifestyle brand that blends traditional Indian roots with a contemporary style, catering to diverse sizes for modern women. Recognizing the lack of high-quality apparel available in a wide range of sizes at affordable prices, Udita aimed to establish trueBrowns as a reliable brand with inclusivity at its core. Having aspired to establish her brainchild as a comprehensive lifestyle brand, Udita was able to successfully achieve the same, by launching the brand’s jewelry category in the year 2023. Additionally, the brand’s expansion into the international market through its global website significantly boosted its overall business performance.

The brand not only focuses on sustainable and enduring fashion but also celebrates India’s cultural heritage through its designs. In order to augment this cultural representation, the brand enlisted the collaboration of actor Chitrangda Singh as the co-creator and ambassador for its September Festive Edit ’22. Since then, this partnership has continued to flourish with each subsequent season. Moreover, in addition to offering exceptional products, trueBrowns is dedicated to delivering excellent customer service, including competitive delivery timelines. To further improve this aspect, Udita intends to establish regional warehouses in the western and southern regions, ensuring better service for customers in those areas.

As an alumna of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), Udita has achieved remarkable success through her unwavering determination and resilience. She has earned several prestigious industry accolades, including India Retailing: Women Retail Icons of India, Exchange for Media: Pride of India Brands – The Best of North India and Top 100 D2C Brands 2022 and Indian Retailer: Best D2C brand of the year – Apparel (Women) among others. With a deep passion for the retail and fashion industry, Udita spent six fulfilling years at Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, Aditya Birla Group. During this time, she steadily progressed and gained valuable insights into various aspects of the apparel industry, including planning, retail, inventory management, CRM, and more. Recognizing the importance of honing her entrepreneurial skills, Udita also pursued a marketing and finance certification at Harvard University.

Udita considers herself a disciplinarian, emphasizing the importance of achieving balance between personal and professional life. To achieve this equilibrium, she engages in various activities and pursues her interests whenever she finds the time. Alongside her entrepreneurial pursuits, she is an internationally certified yoga instructor and has been a lifelong enthusiast of dance, currently undergoing Kathak training. Being a passionate traveller, Udita finds solace in exploring nature-rich destinations that allow her to unwind and enjoy moments of meditation—an activity that helps her stay grounded and revitalized.

Among her treasured books, the Steve Jobs biography holds a special place, and she makes a point of reading it every year. Drawing inspiration from Jobs’ passion and business acumen, Udita strives to embody similar virtues in her own journey. As a means of relaxation, she also finds joy in listening to music, with Billy Joel, Andy Williams, and CAS being among her favourite artists.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
