After a gap of almost 10 years, ride hailing major Uber has relaunched its high-end Uber Black service in India in September

Ride hailing major Uber has launched women-only bike rides in Bengaluru, as a part of its move to offer a safer and more convenient ride option for women.

The Uber Moto Women service is aimed at enhancing women’s safety and will also generate earning opportunities for female gig workers, Uber said in its statement.

“With Uber Moto Women, we are not just offering a safer and more convenient ride option for women, but also empowering female drivers with the opportunity to earn flexibly in one of India’s fastest-growing mobility segments,” said Abhishek Padhye, head of regional business operations, Uber India and South Asia.

This comes after Uber launched a host of new features for its drivers a few weeks ago, including women rider preference for female drivers.

Uber India and South Asia Head Prabhjeet Singh then told Inc42 that the company has made a system using machine learning “to identify women riders based on the names to increase the chances for the women drivers to be matched” at odd hours.

Besides, the platform now allows its drivers to cash out earnings instantly, offering up to four cash-outs daily.

Recently, Uber India also launched a paid membership programme ‘Uber One’ that allows users to earn credits of up to 10% on two-wheeler, three-wheeler and four-wheeler rides. The feature is live on the Uber app and is available in all major cities such as Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai among others.

The cab aggregator will charge a monthly subscription fee of INR 149 for the Uber One. Alternatively, users can also subscribe to a 3-month or a yearly plan.

Earlier this year, Uber announced the relaunch of its high-end Uber Black service in India after a gap of almost 10 years.
