Uber rival Ola launches Ola Parcel in Bengaluru; know the details

Indian ride-hailing giant Ola today launched an all-electric parcel delivery service named Ola Parcel in Bengaluru

The CEO of Ola, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced the launch via a Twitter post, highlighting the initiation of an eco-friendly two-wheeler logistics system for India.

The service, which begins operating in Bengaluru tonight, has a straightforward pricing model: Rs 25 for 5km, Rs 50 for 10km, Rs 75 for 15km, and Rs 100 for 20km. Aggarwal also mentioned that Ola aims to expand this service across India soon.

Comparison with existing services

Ola is not the initial entrant in this sector, as existing players like Uber Connect and Swiggy Genie already offer similar services to customers. However, Ola Parcel distinguishes itself by providing this service exclusively through all-electric vehicles.

Both aforementioned services offer parcel delivery for items that are relatively small and lightweight, typically under 5 kg. Swiggy Genie, which operates in 30 cities, and Uber Connect, available in cities like Gurugram and Kolkata, have been providing similar services since 2020.

The launch of Ola Parcel comes amid various collaborations in the electric vehicle sector in India. Recently, Electric vehicle battery-swapping solutions provider Gogoro partnered with Swiggy in June to promote electric scooters to Swiggy’s last-mile delivery partners across India.
