UAE opens 100% plant-based meat factory ‘THRYVE’

Dubai vegetarians and vegans can look forward to home-grown plant-based “meat” after a major UAE food producer announced a new facility in the city.

At the region’s first factory, THRYVE will produce 100% plant-based meat substitutes. The plant-based meat market is expected to reach $15.7 billion by 2027 as consumers consider changing their diet for ethical, environmental, and food security reasons. The IFFCO Group, one of the UAE’s largest food producers, has opened the region’s first 100% plant-based meat factory in Dubai. The THRYVE factory, located in Dubai Industrial City, will catalyse the Middle East’s transition to a more sustainable and healthy food chain, actively supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE’s Vision 2051 initiative to strengthen food security through diversity and innovation.
