It’s been a bad year for data breaches so far in 2025, and we still have a couple of months to go.
Off the top of my head, I can list several severe breaches, from the 16 billion accounts leaked from Google, Facebook, and Telegram to the 70,000 Discord user IDs to the 40 billion records (many marked “confidential”) discovered on an unencrypted database.
Another week, another new wave of games launching across the Xbox Store. This week, one of the biggest games of the year finally arrives, with Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This new title is again led by Treyarch and Raven, with a co-op campaign, expanded Zombies mode, and more. ARC Raiders is off to a massive start, peaking at well over 260,000 players on release day. The game would go on to eclipse the 350,000 player mark only days later that weekend. Usually, that’s the end of it, but not for ARC Raiders. Not only did ARC Raiders break that record on Friday, but also on Saturday and Sunday.
