Teachers threaten legal action against Unacademy-owned PrepLadder due to nonpayment of dues

Test prep platform PrepLadder, owned by edtech unicorn Unacademy, is being sued by a group of teachers for nonpayment of dues. The teachers’ union has filed a complaint with the Delhi High Court against the SoftBank-backed edtech unicorn.

For medical students preparing for the NEET PG exams, PrepLadder provides recorded content. Dr. Vivek Jain, who taught preventive and social medicine on PrepLadder, filed the primary petition. In December 2022, Dr. Jain filed a complaint with the Delhi High Court for nonpayment of royalty fees. After the Delhi High Court granted Dr. Jain’s petition on December 23, 2022, both parties requested a hearing postponement in order to reach an out-of-court settlement, according to court documents reviewed by Inc42. The case is being heard by Justice Yashwant Varma, who has given the parties until January 11, 2023 to settle.
