Tata Steel Names Akshay Khullar as Vice President for Engineering and Projects

Tata Steel revealed on Monday significant changes in its leadership team, with the appointment of Akshay Khullar as the Vice President of Engineering and Projects. The company also announced the re-designation of Peeyush Gupta, who will now serve as the Vice President of Total Quality Management (TQM), Group Strategic Procurement, and Supply Chain.

As part of Tata Steel’s succession plan for Senior Management Personnel, Akshay Khullar is set to assume the role of Vice President Engineering & Projects (Designate) from December 1, 2023, and subsequently, take on the full responsibilities of Vice President Engineering & Projects from February 1, 2024, according to a regulatory filing by Tata Steel.

Peeyush Gupta, currently holding the position of Vice President Group Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain, will now lead the Total Quality Management (TQM) function in addition to his existing responsibilities. This re-designation is scheduled to be effective from February 1, 2024.

In a noteworthy announcement, Tata Steel shared that Avneesh Gupta, currently serving as the Vice President TQM and Engineering & Projects, is set to superannuate from the company on February 1, 2024. With a remarkable 37 years of association with Tata Steel, Avneesh Gupta has played a pivotal role in the company’s TQM and Engineering & Projects domains.

These leadership changes reflect Tata Steel’s strategic approach to management succession, ensuring a seamless transition and leveraging the strengths of its seasoned executives to drive the company’s continued success in the industry.
