Holly is Mike and Nancy Wheeler’s youngest sibling, who was a minor background character in earlier seasons but becomes a central figure in season 5. The Duffer Brothers elevate her role dramatically in volume 1: after living a mostly ordinary life in Hawkins, she starts talking to an “imaginary friend” named Mr. Whatsit, who is later revealed to be Vecna, manipulating her from afar.
