A study conducted by McAfee reveals that Indians receive an average of 12 scam messages per day and spend 1.8 hours per week identifying them. 82% of Indians have fallen for fake messages, with fake job notifications/offers and bank alert messages being the most common tricks used. The survey also found that hackers using AI to make scam messages more believable have made it harder for 60% of respondents to identify them. Indians spend an average of 105 minutes per week verifying messages and 37% say their trust in digital communications has decreased due to AI-powered scams.
