Saudi-backed Volocopter started manufacturing air taxis to send to NEOM

The Saudi-backed pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), Volocopter, has announced the opening of its production facilities in Bruchsal, Germany. Volocopter will produce more than 50 flying taxis per year at the facility, which will be shipped to locations such as NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

The company opened a new hangar that will house its final assembly line as well as an airfield for development flight tests and quality checks.All company-owned manufacturing facilities, which will produce the first EASA-certified electric air taxis, will go into full operation this month. Electric air taxis manufactured in Germany will be deployed around the world from this facility, with commercial services beginning next year. Volocopter’s production facilities have the capacity and regulatory approval to assemble more than 50 VoloCity aircraft each year.
