Xbox is in a period of transition, as it struggles to find a strong footing in the post-Xbox console era.
The console wars are over, declared GameStop (and the White House?), with Xbox thoroughly trounced by PlayStation and Nintendo. But, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella isn’t doom and gloom about Xbox’s platform future, at least not yet.
Another week, another new wave of games launching across the Xbox Store. This week, one of the biggest games of the year finally arrives, with Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This new title is again led by Treyarch and Raven, with a co-op campaign, expanded Zombies mode, and more. It’s also the final Xbox first-party game to launch in what has been an absolutely packed year. As such, it’s naturally available day one for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. ARC Raiders is off to a massive start, peaking at well over 260,000 players on release day. The game would go on to eclipse the 350,000 player mark only days later that weekend. Usually, that’s the end of it, but not for ARC Raiders. Not only did ARC Raiders break that record on Friday, but also on Saturday and Sunday.
