It added that customer engagement on the Jio network increased sharply in the fiscal, with average per capita data and voice usage at 28.7 GB and 1,008 minutes per month, respectively, across the overall subscriber base.

Jio also completed its planned “True 5G rollout” across India in FY24. With this, it has migrated 10.8 Cr users to its 5G Network. The 5G network accounted for almost 30% of Jio’s data traffic.

“Jio turned a Data Dark India into a Data Rich nation, supplying every Indian home with affordable, high-speed 4G data. And this year, Jio has further enhanced the country’s digital infrastructure by rolling out its True 5G network across India in world-record time,” RIL MD and chairman Mukesh Ambani said.

On its fixed broadband network JioAirFiber, the company said that it maintained its leadership position in the market with about 1.2 Cr premises using JioFiber/JioAirFiber as of March 2024. JioAirFiber was available in about 5,900 Indian towns at the end of the fiscal year.

Jio now aims to reach 10 Cr Mn premises through a combination of fibre and fixed wireless solutions. The company didn’t specify the timeline for this goal.

It is pertinent to note that Jio Platforms posted a 12% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit to INR 5,698 Cr in the first quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (FY25). Revenue from operations grew 13% YoY to INR 29,449 Cr in Q1 FY25.

While disclosing its financials for the first quarter, the company claimed to have become the largest operator globally in terms of data traffic.
