Perplexity has enhanced its AI chatbot, “Ask Perplexity,” on X (formerly Twitter), introducing a video generation feature. Users can now prompt the bot to create videos directly within the platform. While Perplexity hasn’t disclosed the underlying Large Language Model (LLM) powering this capability, they emphasize the implementation of safety measures. These guardrails aim to prevent the creation of deepfakes or synthetic videos that closely resemble real-world celebrities and public figures. The feature is currently accessible to all X users simply by tagging the chatbot in their posts. This upgrade positions Perplexity as a potential competitor in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-powered content creation on social media.
