OpenAI bans Chinese accounts for social media surveillance

OpenAI has banned multiple accounts from China for using its ChatGPT service to support social media monitoring, according to a threat intelligence report released by the company.

The report reveals that the banned accounts were generating descriptions for a social media listening tool that provided real-time reports on anti-China protests in Western countries to Chinese security agencies.
