Microsoft expands accessibility of Bing Chat AI across browsers

Microsoft has made a bold move in integrating AI functionality into its existing products, and its latest announcement reinforces this commitment. On Monday, the company declared that its Bing Chat AI chatbot, available on Edge mobile browser, standalone Android, and iOS apps, is now accessible on third-party browsers such as Safari and Chrome.

Commemoration of Bing Chat’s Public Availability Milestone

This development coincides with Microsoft celebrating six months of Bing Chat’s public availability. During this period, users have participated in over a billion conversations with the AI and have witnessed it generate an impressive three-quarters of a billion images.

Microsoft Broader Access and Edge Mobile Exclusives

Microsoft’s statement emphasizes the broader access enabled by this expansion, showcasing the remarkable value of summarized answers and image generation to a wider audience. It’s important to note that while this enhancement opens up Bing Chat’s capabilities, certain features like “longer conversations [and] chat history” will remain exclusive to Edge mobile.

Evolution of Bing Chat Accessibility

Microsoft initiated the roll-out of Bing Chat in late July, initially making it accessible on third-party desktop browsers. However, this version had limitations, offering 2,000 words per prompt on Chrome and Safari, in contrast to 4,000 words on Edge.

Microsoft Empowering with Up-to-Date Information and Enhanced Features

Bing Chat, powered by ChatGPT-4 from OpenAI, goes beyond its foundational system’s capabilities. It benefits from its integration with Bing Search, providing access to real-time information about recent events. The new version of Bing Chat also introduces multimodal search, enabling users to upload photos and receive AI-generated responses about their contents. Additionally, the AI platform now offers a dark mode for after-hours inquiries, enhancing the user experience even further. This advancement solidifies Microsoft’s dedication to harnessing AI for enriched interactions and knowledge-sharing.
