Meta’s text-based social media platform, Threads, may soon be launched in the EU to comply with the region’s regulations. Users in the EU might have access to Threads in December, offering a view-only mode where creating a profile is optional for viewing posts. However, creating a profile may be necessary for posting content. It’s unclear how personalised recommendations will be provided to view-only users. Previously, Threads accounts were linked to Instagram, but now users can delete their Threads accounts without losing their Instagram accounts. Meta aims to have a billion users posting on Threads.
