MetaMask integrates PayPal for effortless crypto purchases

MetaMask, the leading web3 wallet, has introduced a new feature that allows users to easily purchase Ethereum (ETH) and other cryptocurrencies within the wallet. In an effort to expand payment options, MetaMask has integrated PayPal as a payment method for its users across the United States, excluding Hawaii.

As the first web3 wallet to enable ETH purchases using PayPal, MetaMask offers a seamless experience for users looking to acquire digital assets. This integration not only allows direct purchases of ETH but also facilitates the transfer of ETH from PayPal to MetaMask, promoting greater self-custody adoption.

PayPal, renowned for its digital payment services, has also made its mark in the cryptocurrency space by offering crypto-related functionalities on its platform. With the recent integration, MetaMask users can utilize their PayPal balance, linked bank account, or debit card to add ETH directly to their MetaMask wallets.

Getting started with PayPal integration on MetaMask is a breeze for users in the United States. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Log in to the MetaMask browser extension, mobile app, or MetaMask Portfolio. If you haven’t downloaded MetaMask yet, begin by installing it.
Click or tap “BUY” to initiate the purchase process.
Select your country (currently available in the US) and state (excluding Hawaii) as prompted.
Choose “PayPal” as your preferred payment method.
Select ETH as the cryptocurrency and enter the desired purchase amount. Currently, only ETH is available for purchase through PayPal on MetaMask.
Sign in to your PayPal account.
Choose your payment option: PayPal balance, eligible bank account, or debit card.
Review the purchase details and click “Confirm” to finalize the transaction.
With a successful purchase, users can now proceed to engage in core web3 activities using their acquired assets within MetaMask.

The integration of PayPal as a payment method within MetaMask demonstrates the commitment to making cryptocurrency accessible and convenient for users. By simplifying the process of purchasing ETH and facilitating self-custody adoption, MetaMask empowers individuals to take control of their digital assets with ease and security.
