Meta is intensifying its AI efforts by appointing Shengjia Zhao, a co-creator of ChatGPT, as the chief scientist of its Superintelligence Lab. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the hire on Friday, highlighting Zhao’s role in shaping the lab’s research agenda and scientific direction.
Zhao will report directly to Zuckerberg and Meta’s Chief AI Officer, Alexandr Wang, who was recruited from Scale AI, where Meta holds a significant investment. This strategic hiring underscores Meta’s commitment to advancing its capabilities in artificial intelligence and solidifies its focus on pioneering research in the field.
