Meta introduces blue tick verification for Indian mobile users at INR 1,450

In a bid to provide more authenticity and credibility to its users, Meta has announced that Indian mobile users can now avail themselves of the blue tick verification badge for their profiles. However, the company has stated that this service will come at a cost of INR 1,450 per year.

The blue tick verification badge is a well-known symbol of authenticity on social media platforms, indicating that the account belongs to a verified user or public figure. With the new service, Meta aims to provide its users with a more secure platform and allow them to differentiate between real and fake accounts.

The Meta blue tick verification badge will be available for both personal and business accounts, but users must provide proper identification and documentation to be eligible for the verification process. The verification badge will be subject to a yearly review, and users will have to reapply for the service to maintain their verified status.

According to a statement by Meta, the verification process will require users to submit their government-issued identification documents, along with a clear photo of themselves. Once the documents are reviewed and approved, users will be required to pay INR 1,450 to receive the blue tick verification badge.

The announcement of the new service has garnered mixed reactions from Indian users. Some users have expressed concern about the cost of the service, stating that it could be a barrier for many users who cannot afford the fee. Others have welcomed the move, stating that it will help reduce the number of fake profiles on the platform.

Meta’s decision to charge for the blue tick verification badge is not new, as the company charges users in other countries for the same service. However, the cost of the service in India is significantly lower than in other countries, with the price ranging from $99 to $299 in the United States.
