Seoul, South Korea – In a recent financial update, Krafton, the company behind the globally popular game PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, reported impressive sales figures, operations growth, and net profit for the third quarter of 2023 (3Q23), following the Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS).
Krafton’s 3Q23 performance has been nothing short of remarkable, with sales reaching KRW 450.3 billion, operations surging to KRW 189.3 billion, and a net profit of KRW 211.6 billion. These numbers represent a substantial increase, with sales and operations climbing 16% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) and 44% QoQ, respectively, while also showing a healthy 4% year-over-year (YoY) and 31% YoY growth.
The company attributes much of this success to the enduring popularity of the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS intellectual property, which consistently generates stable revenue across various platforms. In the PC/Console sector, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS revamped its classic maps Miramar and Erangel, along with introducing the new weapon Dragunov, offering players fresh and engaging gaming experiences throughout 3Q23.
On the financial front, Krafton achieved KRW 133.3 billion in sales on PC/Console, while mobile sales recorded a substantial 26% QoQ increase, reaching KRW 309.1 billion. This growth in mobile sales can be attributed to PUBG MOBILE’s collaboration with Dragon Ball Super and the resumption of services for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI).
India played a pivotal role in Krafton’s success story, with the company hosting large-scale esports competitions and providing localized content. These initiatives helped bring sales and traffic back to previous levels. Furthermore, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS solidified its position as the most popular game in the Indian market, attracting a steady influx of new users.
