The Kerala High Court ordered the state government to develop regulations and guidelines for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in apartment complexes.
Justice VG Arun issued the order while hearing a petition filed by two Kochi residents who faced opposition from their apartment owners association when they proposed installing an EV charging point on their own. Considering the Kerala government’s EV policy and the state’s phenomenal increase in the number of EVs, the court concluded that “adequate provision ought to be made” to provide charging points in apartment complexes where EV owners reside.
