Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met with representatives from the online gaming industry on Monday to discuss ways to protect users’ money and promote eSports and social games, reported PTI, citing an official source.
New online gaming law
The meeting comes shortly after Parliament passed The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which bans all online money-based games while encouraging eSports and skill-based games. The Act has received the President’s assent and will come into effect once officially notified by the government.
