UWB technology uses high-frequency radio waves to measure the time it takes for pulses to bounce back from objects, allowing for accurate distance measurements. Apple introduced UWB with the iPhone 11 and has since integrated it into various devices. UWB in Apple devices allows for precise device positioning, improved spatial awareness for AR applications, and seamless device handoffs. The U2 chip is expected to enhance location capabilities in the Find My app.
