Intel Appoints Gokul Subramaniam as President of Intel India

Intel, the global chip manufacturing giant, has announced the appointment of Gokul Subramaniam as the President of Intel India. In his new role, Subramaniam will oversee the company’s comprehensive engineering and design operations in the country. This significant leadership change underscores Intel’s commitment to strengthening its presence and innovation in India.

Gokul Subramaniam boasts an impressive career spanning over 11 years with Intel. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Client Computing Group (CCG) and General Manager of Client Platforms and Systems, Subramaniam will now assume the role of Intel India President while continuing to lead the Client Platforms and Systems division within CCG. This strategic move highlights his deep understanding of Intel’s operations and his valuable contributions to the company.

Santhosh Viswanathan, the Vice President and Managing Director of Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group (SMG), will maintain his leadership role in driving Intel’s overall business in India.

Subramaniam, an alumnus of the University of Madras and the University of Texas, joined Intel in 2012. Before becoming an integral part of the Intel family, he had a successful stint at Texas Instruments, further enriching his expertise in the semiconductor industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Subramaniam stated, “As a critical engineering and design center for Intel, Intel India plays a vital role in our company’s transformation journey and the trajectory towards product leadership.” His leadership is expected to fuel Intel’s ongoing efforts to advance innovation and technology in India.

This development comes a few months after the departure of Nivruti Rai, who served as the Intel India Country Head for 29 years before stepping down in June 2023. Rai has since assumed the role of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Invest India, taking charge of this critical position.

Intel has been actively engaging with the tech community through various initiatives. Recently, the company hosted the Intel Innovation 2023 event in San Jose, where it unveiled updates on its next-generation processors, including the launch of the 5th Gen Xeon processors and Intel Core Ultra processors scheduled for December 14th. Additionally, Intel announced the general availability of the Intel Developer Cloud, designed for building and testing high-performance applications. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger also delivered a keynote speech highlighting the rise of “Siliconomy,” signifying economic expansion driven by sustainable, open, and secure computing power.
