India steps up digital defence; FM reviews banks’ cyber preparedness

With India-Pakistan tensions spilling into the digital realm, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is reviewing the cybersecurity preparedness of Indian banks in a high-level meeting today.

The meeting to be held via video conferencing, will also see participation from senior officials of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). A press release is expected to be issued post the review.

Banks already have in place standard operating procedures and contingency plans to respond to potential cyber threats….
