Google is finally addressing one of its biggest user complaints by allowing people to change their primary Gmail address without opening a new account.

Until now, only users linked to third-party email IDs could update their account email. Anyone with an “@gmail.com” address had to create a fresh account and move data manually.

This update will be welcome news for users who have awaited this change for years, especially those who created their accounts as children and ended up with informal or impractical email addresses.
