Google Cloud has proposed plans to set up a startup hub and a centre of excellence in Madhya Pradesh, state chief minister (CM) Mohan Yadav said.
Yadav made the comments while speaking at a session organised by Invest Madhya Pradesh in Bengaluru on Thursday (August 8).
According to the official press statement, chip giant NVIDIA, during the session, suggested preparing a blueprint to establish Madhya Pradesh as the “Intelligence Capital of India”. As per CM Yadav, the state government received proposals worth nearly INR 3,200 Cr during the session.
While it remains to be seen whether these investments materialise, Yadav said that these proposals will pave the way for the creation of around 7,000 new employment opportunities in the state and bolster the local economy.
The CM also held a roundtable discussion with representatives of spacetech startups as well as IT companies such as Infosys, Cognizant, and Tata Consultancy Services.
“Discussions were held with these companies regarding the development of information technology in Madhya Pradesh and their future plans, and I am hopeful that with the kind of positive response that we have got, we will witness many IT companies setting up their campuses in Madhya Pradesh,” the CM said.
While there is no formal agreement, the comments from the CM come at a time when Google Cloud has aggressively scaled up its offerings in the country and tied up with local authorities and players to bolster its India operations.
In February, Google signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to fuel scalable AI solutions in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, sustainability, education, and startups.
In May, Google Cloud and telecom giant Bharti Airtel inked a “long-term” partnership to deliver cloud solutions to Indian businesses. In May, homegrown GenAI startup Soket AI Labs unveiled India’s first open-source multilingual foundational model in partnership with Google Cloud.
Earlier this month, SaaS startup Adya.ai announced a partnership with Google Cloud to roll out a platform to boost ONDC’s adoption among enterprises.
