Google Workspace users can now leverage the power of custom AI “Gems” within their familiar apps. Announced on Wednesday, this expansion brings Gems, previously exclusive to the Gemini app and website since August 2024, to productivity tools like Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail.
These specialized AI assistants, designed to perform specific tasks, are accessible via the Gemini side panel within each application. This integration marks a significant step in embedding AI-powered assistance directly into everyday workflows. Users can now benefit from tailored AI support without leaving the context of their documents, presentations, spreadsheets, or emails.
