Google confirms its ChatGPT rival will launch soon

Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed the company’s plans to add AI (artificial intelligence) features to its search engine.

During the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, the CEO stated that people will be able to “interact directly” with its “newest, most powerful model as a companion to search in experimental and innovative ways” “very soon.” Google Search will use LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), Google’s own language model, to provide queries with “factual” and conversational results. This comes just one day after a report claimed that Google is planning to compete with ChatGPT, the AI-powered chatbot that has gone viral. According to Pichai, the improved search will be available for testing in the “coming weeks and months.” This could happen during Google IO 2023, the company’s annual developer conference where it showcases new software and hardware.
