Former Apple communications manager joins ALLEN as Chief Marketing Officer

ALLEN Career Institute, a renowned test preparation startup, has recently appointed Apoorv Sharma as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Sharma, previously a senior marketing and communications manager at Apple, brings over 18 years of diverse experience in both B2B and B2C domains across different regions. The company highlighted Sharma’s expertise in brand building, creative solutions, and product marketing during his five-year tenure at Apple.

Sharma expressed his enthusiasm about joining ALLEN, stating, “I look forward to igniting a deeper connection with educators, learners, and parents through compelling storytelling and innovative marketing strategies.” He emphasized the company’s goal to not only inform but also inspire and empower student communities for a brighter future.

With dual MBA degrees from IMT Ghaziabad and IÉSEG School of Management in France, alongside a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Sharma brings a blend of managerial skills and technical knowledge to his new role.

Earlier this year, ALLEN appointed Nitin Kukreja as its CEO, marking the firm’s transition into a digital-first edtech enterprise. Kukreja, formerly the managing director at Marigold Park Capital Advisors and CEO of Star Sports, joins ALLEN with a rich background in consumer-tech investments and leadership roles.

In a strategic move, ALLEN made its foray into the edtech space through its acquisition of Doubtnut, an AI-based doubts solving platform, reportedly closing the deal at around $10 million. Additionally, the company secured a significant investment of $600 million from Bodhi Tree Systems last year. Founded in 1988 by Rajesh Maheshwari, ALLEN Career Institute continues to be a leading test prep brand, supporting engineering and medical students in their college entrance examinations.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
