The UK is hosting the world’s first global artificial intelligence (AI) safety summit, aiming to examine the risks of AI and initiate international discussions on its regulation. The two-day summit will be attended by world leaders, tech company executives, academics, and nonprofits. The objective is to establish international coordination and principles for the ethical and responsible development of AI models, addressing risks of AI misuse and loss of control. The summit will discuss topics such as AI as a weapon, bioweapons, and the potential for AI to gain sentience. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak plans to launch a global advisory board for AI regulation.
