Esscent: Transforming Flower Waste into Eco-Friendly Incense Sticks

About 80 lakh metric tonnes of flowers are disposed of in Ganga every year, which creates a problem that is severely detrimental to the environment. In order to solve the problem of water pollution, degradation of the environment, and keep the purity of rivers intact, we came up with “Esscent”.

A group of passionate students from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University took up the mission under the purview of an NGO- Connecting Dreams Foundation to disrupt this massive waste stream by using flower waste as a primary aromatic and eco-friendly ingredient in the products. The process involves collecting flower waste, processing it using eco-friendly methods, and crafting high-quality ncense sticks that not only fill the space with delightful fragrances but also contribute to environmental sustainability.

These sticks are 100% organic & charcoal free, handrolled by Rural Women & Specially Abled People, who otherwise won’t have been provided similar opportunities.

Our Impact-:

Financial Impact-: Till Date, We’ve sold over 9,000 boxes. We managed to make more than 6 women financially independent with an increase of 150% in their incomes. Through our commitment to social responsibility, Esscent not only addresses environmental concerns but also empowers women by providing them with economic opportunities.

Ecological Impact-: We have been contributing to recycling more than 12,000 kgs of flower waste, 41% of which contains pesticides, keeping intact the purity of rivers. Additionally, our packaging is organic, featuring recycled butter paper, cotton pouches, and gold-laced cardboard boxes. Our product is 100% charcoal-free and eco-friendly.

Social Impact-: More than 5000 lives have been impacted through our initiative along with our user group, which consists of specially-abled and rural women, who were otherwise not given equal employment opportunities.

Esscent by Arpan, continues to make sure that devotion is not accompanied by any environmental harm.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
