Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and owner of X (formerly Twitter), has once again changed his profile name—this time to “Gorklon Rust.” The move has sparked speculation, as it follows two earlier aliases in the past six months: “Kekius Maximus” and “Harry Bolz.”
Although Musk hasn’t explained the reason behind this latest name change, observers believe “Gorklon Rust” could be a reference to xAI’s chatbot, Grok. The term may combine “Grok” with “clone” (“klon”), implying a “Grok clone.” The “Rust” part is likely a nod to the Rust programming language, which xAI uses in its development stack.
Adding to the mystery, Musk recently tagged an account named ‘Gork’, which differs from the official Grok chatbot and appears to parody it with witty, irreverent responses. Some also speculate that this could be a tactic to promote the “Gork” meme coin on the Solana blockchain.
The term “Grok” itself originates from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and means to deeply and completely understand something. Musk previously announced that xAI would soon roll out its latest large language model, Grok 3.5.
