Edtech giant Byju’s appoints Arjun Mohan as its India CEO

Troubled Byju’s, which has seen several senior leaders depart over the past few weeks, has now appointed Arjun Mohan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of India operations.

This comes after Arjun Mohan denied the media claims that he had assumed the role of International CEO of Byju’s. However, he had confirmed the collaboration with Byju Raveendran, the co-founder of Byju’s.

Arjun Mohan succeeds Mrinal Mohit, founding partner and the outgoing head of India business at BYJU’S, who is embarking on a new journey to pursue personal aspirations, the company said in a statement.

Arjun Mohan’s journey

Mohan, who previously had served as Byju’s Chief Business Officer, quit the firm in 2020 to join Ronnie Screwvala’s upGrad as CEO. He initially began his journey with BYJU’S in 2008 as a consultant.

“It was no surprise that I joined him to revolutionize education more than a decade ago. And it is no surprise either that I return to BYJU’S today, when technology is poised to play an even more important role in making education truly personalised. While challenges are aplenty, I am ready to play my role in helping BYJU’S empower our current and future generations to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” Arjun Mohan said.

What Byju Raveendran say about Arjun Mohan?

Reflecting on Mrinal’s contributions, Byju Raveendran, said, “If BYJU’S has reached the remarkable heights it stands at today, it is due to the extraordinary efforts of our founding team. Mrinal’s contributions have left an indelible mark on our organization, and we bid him a bittersweet farewell. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.”

Commenting on the appointment of Arjun Mohan, Raveendran, said, “Arjun’s return is a testament to his belief in our mission and the unparalleled opportunities that lie ahead. His expertise will undoubtedly help our turnaround efforts and strengthen our position in the global EdTech landscape.”

Mrinal Mohit exits from Byju’s

Speaking about his departure from BYJU’S, Mrinal Mohit said, “Being part of the founding team at BYJU’S has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to the transformation of education. As I embark on a new chapter in my career, I leave BYJU’S in capable hands and carry with me the pride of what we have achieved as a team.”

Mrinal joined Byju’s in July 2008 as the Head of Business Development and was later elevated to SVP of business development and strategy. In June 2016, He became the firm’s chief operating officer (COO).

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it.
