Cleantech Startup INDRA Raises $4 Mn To Offer B2B Water Purification Solutions

Cleantech startup INDRA has raised $4 Mn in a Series A funding round co-led by Mela Ventures and Emerald Technology Ventures, with participation from Peak Sustainability Ventures and The Climate Angels.

Founded in 2017 by Amrit Om Nayak and Krunal Patel, INDRA solves complex problem of water treatment in the industrial and sewage segment with its electro-chemical oxidation and coagulation process.

Amrit Om Nayak, said, “Solving the wastewater treatment challenge needs continuous innovation and relentless commitment. I am very excited that Mela Ventures shares the same passion for sustainable solutions.”

The startup leverages ionic reactions to remove pollutants including a wide range of unwanted substances, heavy metals, suspended solids, phosphorus, fats, oil, grease, pathogens and dissolved organics among others from wastewater.

It claims that its proprietary plug-and-play solution takes 90% less space compared to existing solutions and recovers up to 99% of the treated water. According to the startup, it can be implemented individually or in combination with existing water treatment solutions.

Currently, the startup is just focussing on the effluents from factories manufacturing textiles, steel, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and sewage from hotels and commercial properties.

The startup claims to be well-positioned to meet the increasing needs of the industries and commercial buildings around water filtration based on the parameters set by the environmental and regulatory authorities globally.

INDRA claims to have generated 4,500 tons less of sludge, used 3,600 tons less of harmful chemicals and produced more than 850 tons less of greenhouse gases as compared to conventional chemical and biological water treatment solutions.

N Krishnakumar, managing partners, MelaVentures said that this investment aligns with the venture capital firm’s sustainability goals, which also happens to be one of their themes in focus.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
