Center intends to impose stiff penalties for using fake reviews and ratings of electronic devices

In order to protect consumers’ interests and provide convenience, the Center intends to impose stiff penalties (on companies) for using fake reviews and ratings of electronic devices.

According to two officials quoted in the Mint report, the union consumers affairs ministry will hold a meeting on September 14th to discuss threats related to fake reviews, as well as the right to repair damaged electronic devices and standard device chargers. “Guidelines will be issued for the entire sector, and we are willing to listen to and accommodate the solutions that the industry will propose,” one of the two officials mentioned above said. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), led by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, has formed three groups to work on fake reviews, the right to repair defective electronic devices, and device chargers.
