CCI ruling: Supreme Court rejects Google’s modification request in the Android case

The Supreme Court refused to change or modify its January 19 order that ruled against Google in the Android antitrust case and ordered the tech behemoth to make changes to its Android ecosystem and pay a fine of INR 1,337.76 Cr.

After the Supreme Court denied Google interim relief in the case, refusing to intervene in both the CCI and NCLAT orders, the company filed a modification application on January 25, claiming that the SC did not record the full extent of Google’s offer. Among the changes made by Google to comply with the CCI order were the company’s plans to implement user choice billing for all apps and games beginning in February and allowing users to choose their default search engine when setting up a new Android device.
