Binance temporarily halted user withdrawals on Tuesday due to a problem at an Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center. The crypto exchange announced the suspension on X, stating it was “to keep safe,” and resumed withdrawals roughly 23 minutes later.
Other crypto exchanges also reported experiencing related issues. AWS’s service dashboard indicated a “connectivity issue” impacting its Tokyo cloud region, which likely contributed to the disruption. While the exact nature of the issue remains unclear, the temporary suspension highlights the reliance of crypto platforms on cloud infrastructure and the potential for disruptions caused by third-party providers. This incident underscores the importance of robust infrastructure and contingency plans for crypto exchanges to ensure uninterrupted service.
