Amazon to shutdown food delivery business in India

In what appears to be Amazon’s attempt to close loss-making businesses, it has now been revealed that the ecommerce giant plans to close its food delivery business by the end of the year.

Amazon announced to its restaurant partners in a communication that it plans to discontinue Amazon Foods on December 29, 2022. “After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue Amazon Food as of December 29, 2022.” The service will be phased out, and partner restaurants will have access to all Amazon tools and reports until January 31, 2023. This follows a day of mass layoffs at the company and the shutdown of Amazon’s edtech vertical.
