The latest version of Amazon’s delivery drone, the MK30, was just unveiled after the bin-picking robot Sparrow made its debut this morning. The system, which will make limited deliveries to residents of Lockeford, California, and College Station, Texas, is the replacement for the MK27-2.
The MK30, which is scheduled to make its debut in 2024, is both lighter and smaller than the previous model and has increased resistance to extreme temperatures and a wider range of weather conditions. Making the environment quieter is a crucial component as well. One of the most anticipated issues with installing these systems in residential areas is drone noise. The system sticks to the same fundamental hexacopter design as its predecessor, taking a different approach from the fixed-wing systems used by companies like Wing.
