AI to drive long-term productivity gains, says OECD Chief Economist


Artificial Intelligence is expected to play a key role in lifting productivity across the global economy, according to Alvaro Pereira, Chief Economist at the OECD.

In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Pereira said, “We expect that the impact of AI on productivity will be between 1.2% and 1.5% per year over the next 10 years in the United States, and a little bit less in many other countries.”

Describing AI as a “rare technology,” Pereira said it would reshape productivity, output, and the organisation of work. The OECD has released a report…
