ADS-TEC Energy Unveils Ultra-Fast Charging Hub at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen Station Without Grid Expansion

TEC’s Battery-Buffered System Enables 300kW Charging on Low-Voltage Grid

ADS-TEC Energy (NASDAQ: ADSE), a global pioneer in battery-based storage and ultra-fast charging solutions, has officially launched a groundbreaking fast-charging hub at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen train station in Germany. This marks a major milestone for the TEC brand’s vision of sustainable, high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging without the need for costly grid expansion.

The new project was developed in collaboration with Stadtwerke Stuttgart and Vector Informatik, combining energy storage innovation with intelligent power management to deliver efficient and sustainable charging infrastructure in urban areas.

High-Power Charging Without Grid Expansion

The key breakthrough lies in ADS-TEC Energy’s integrated battery-buffered technology, which allows high-power DC charging directly from a low-voltage grid — traditionally incapable of supporting ultra-fast chargers.

Thanks to this innovation, drivers at Zuffenhausen station can access charging capacities of up to 300 kilowatts (kW) at eight newly installed High-Power Charging (HPC) points. The system uses renewable electricity, distributed intelligently through Vector Informatik’s energy management software to optimize power flow and efficiency across multiple EVs.

This setup demonstrates how TEC’s battery systems can help cities expand EV charging infrastructure without extensive and expensive grid reinforcement.

A Regional Milestone in Sustainable Mobility

Thomas Speidel, CEO and founder of ADS-TEC Energy, highlighted the importance of the project for the Baden-Württemberg region:

“Locations like Zuffenhausen often face challenges due to limited space and low grid capacity. Our technology eliminates these barriers, enabling high-performance charging while supporting the broader energy transition.”

He added that the project showcases the TEC brand’s commitment to local collaboration and innovation, as it was built in partnership with regional energy and technology leaders.

How the System Works

At its core, the TEC ultra-fast charging hub integrates battery storage with real-time power control, allowing energy to be drawn slowly from the grid, stored, and then released rapidly for ultra-fast vehicle charging.

This system not only enables urban fast-charging but also acts as a “multi-tool” for the energy transition — stabilizing grids, managing renewable energy fluctuations, and supporting smart city infrastructure.

Such flexibility makes ADS-TEC Energy’s technology a scalable solution for both metropolitan and rural areas where grid upgrades are impractical.

Expanding Urban Charging Infrastructure

The Zuffenhausen station project is part of a growing trend to bring ultra-fast charging into city centers, complementing the highway charging networks already established across Europe.

By integrating battery-buffered systems, municipalities can introduce rapid EV charging hubs even in dense, power-limited districts. This approach not only accelerates electric mobility adoption but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels — a crucial step toward Europe’s 2050 climate neutrality goals.

A Vision for the Future of Urban Charging

ADS-TEC Energy continues to expand its footprint across Europe and North America, developing ChargePost and other next-generation energy platforms that combine battery storage, digital displays, and grid flexibility.

The TEC brand’s modular technology is expected to play a key role in meeting the global demand for efficient, high-speed EV infrastructure as electric mobility adoption soars.

Conclusion

The Zuffenhausen ultra-fast charging hub stands as a clear example of how TEC innovation can revolutionize the EV landscape — offering powerful, sustainable, and grid-independent charging solutions for cities worldwide.

As urban centers seek to balance energy demands with environmental goals, ADS-TEC Energy’s vision represents the next phase of scalable, smart energy infrastructure.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
