wipro: Behind the revival of fresher hiring at India’s top IT firms


Synopsis

Specialist staffing firm Xpheno data shows the IT sector collectively had a sub-70,000 intake of entry level talent over the last fiscal ending March 2024, its lowest fresher intake year over two decades. TCS reiterated its ambitious target of hiring 40,000 freshers this year. While Infosys did not share fresher additions, its net headcount declined by 1,908 employees.

After a lull of more than a year, fresher hiring by Indian software exporters is likely to pick up.
