As ‘Masters of the Air’ finale lands, Apple TV+ explores the true stories in new documentary ‘The Bloody Hundredth’

Masters of the Air concludes today with episode nine, the finale of Apple TV+’s hit limited series from the creators of Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

To celebrate the release, Apple has also dropped a new 1-hour documentary special entitled The Bloody Hundredth, which reveals more about the real stories of the 100th Bomb Group. You can stream it now on Apple TV+.

The Bloody Hundredth honours the real-life heroes of the 100th Bomb Group. The title comes from the nickname given to the 100th Bomb Group, due to the amount of casualties it endured. More than three quarters of the airmen in the group died in combat, mostly all within a four month span.

The documentary is narrated by Tom Hanks, who is also an executive producer on Masters of the Air. It features moving archive footage, and interviews with some of the surviving members of the group; both pilots and navigators.

The companion special also goes deeper into the stories of Gale Cleven and John Egan, the protagonists of Masters of the Air drama.

You can watch the full season of Masters of the Air, and the new documentary, right now on Apple TV+. Get a seven day free trial for new accounts here. Watch Apple TV+ through the Apple TV app available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and more platforms. You can also watch in a web browser at tv.apple.com.

Also streaming today on Apple TV+ is new historical fiction drama Manhunt, about the hunt for Abraham Lincoln’s assassin. New comedy Palm Royale starring Kristen Wiig premieres next week, followed by a new Steve Martin documentary, with dramas Sugar and Franklin arriving in April.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wright enjoyed the adaptation but was a little let down by just how different it was from the novel. Years later, after he’d become a successful… Source link
