Wipro: Wipro partners with Intel Foundry for chip innovation tech


Indian IT major Wipro has expanded its collaboration with Intel Foundry to accelerate chip design innovation in the semiconductor and hi-tech space, it said on Wednesday.

“As the key design services and alliance partner, Wipro will work with Intel Foundry to accelerate the development of Intel’s most advanced process nodes, including the Intel18A process node,” the Bengaluru-based software services exporter said in a regulatory filing.

The global AI chip market is expected to average a compounded growth rate of 38% annually from 2023 to 2032, Wipro added in the filing.
The collaboration between Wipro and Intel Foundry is designed to address the rising demand for AI chip manufacturing as companies race to roll out generative AI-enabled products.

“This new collaboration with Intel Foundry marks a significant step towards becoming a part of the
semiconductor industry. This creates opportunities for Wipro and supports chip supply and chip manufacturing. Together, with Intel, we will deliver silicon devices to our clients with proven industry-standard flows and process technologies from Intel Foundry. We will be targeting new startup markets, especially in the Gen AI space, helping our clients further shorten the time to market,” said Atul Kapur, vice president and business head for HiTech at Wipro.

Wipro’s design services will be paired with Intel Foundry’s manufacturing capabilities to enable clients, especially across heavy industries, such as automotive, industrial, and telecommunications sectors, to leverage Gen AI-driven designs and foundry services to drive ongoing innovation.
Wipro has made a $1 billion investment in the AI360 ecosystem which will be combined with the partnership with Intel on AI driven chip manufacturing.
The partnership will enhance the time-to-market and bring significant benefits to clients in design verification, and physical design, it further said.
